  Windows Utilities
  =================

   The Logitech Windows Control Panel
   ----------------------------------
The Logitech Mouse Control Panel for Windows has been enhanced as
   follows:
   - Clicking the Cursor button brings up the Cursor Enhancement Panel.
Please refer to the following section.
   - A "left button double click" function can be assigned to the
     middle or right mouse button.
   - With at least one button assigned, it is possible to call up the
Mouse Control Panel from the "LogiMouse" icon. To do so, double
     click on the "LogiMouse" icon.

If you wish to alter the orientation of your TrackMan device under
Windows, you can edit your SYSTEM.INI with SYSEDIT.EXE, under
section [LogiMouse] and set Orientation=NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, or WEST.
As for a Logitech TrackMan Portable device, you can set the
orientation in the Mouse Control Panel.

The Logitech Windows Cursor Enhancement Panel
   ---------------------------------------------
This new utility is intended for users of notebook computers with
black-and-white LCD displays or high-resolution monitors. Click
the "Cursor" button in the Windows Mouse Control Panel to launch
   the Cursor Enhancement Panel.

Select one or more of the available options to make the cursor more
noticeable. You can change: Color (black or white); Orientation
   (left or right); Size (small, medium or large); Cursor Tracking;
Cursor Trails, Shrink Delay and Speed Sensitivity. Please use
   Windows Help for more information.

If your version of Windows and your Display Driver support Mouse
Trails this cursor enhancement feature may be enabled by selecting
the "Cursor Trails" check box in the Cursor Enhancement Control
Panel. Please refer to the Cursor Enhancement Addendum for more
   information.

If you select the "Always On Top" option from the Logitech Cursor
Enhancements Panel and would like to use a white background for the
LogiCursor icon, edit a file called LCURSOR.INI which can be found
in the WINDOWS directory and add the following line under the
   section titled [Configuration]:

      TransparentIcon=0

In order for the new setting to take effect restart Windows. If you
wish to restore the icon to the default background (transparent),
delete the above line and restart Windows.

Windows Running In 386 Enhanced Mode
   ------------------------------------
There are two limitations when running Windows in 386 enhanced
   mode:

   1) You cannot use the DOS mouse driver in "DUAL" mode.
   2) If you use the MouseMan Cordless Mouse on a mouse port
(sometimes called a PS/2 or PIX port), the Logitech Mouse
Control Panel "About" box only shows static information from
the start of your Windows session. Thus, if you change the
channel in the current Windows session, information in the
"About" box will not change until the next session.

   Logitech Cordless Mouse
   -----------------------
Logitech Cordless mouse provides up to 6 feet of pick-up field
between transmitter and receiver depending on the environment in
which the mouse is being used. The mouse pick-up field might be
affected by one or more of the following:

   1) Both the mouse and receiver are placed on a separate large
metal surface which may act as an antenna and interfere with the
mouse -- to correct the problem, avoid using the mouse on a metal
      surface.

   2) Some monitors emit frequencies similar to the ones used by the
mouse in which case a poor mouse behavior may result -- to
correct the problem, try moving the receiver unit away from the
interfering source and/or operate the mouse on a different
      channel.

   3) Poor mouse behavior may also result from not placing the mouse
and the receiver on the same plane. Make sure that both mouse
and receiver are on the same plane/level. Also, make sure that
the receiver unit lays flat on the surface with the green LED
facing up. You may also experience some deterioration in the
mouse pick-up field due to having objects (specially electronic
devices) between mouse and receiver -- to correct the problem,
remove any objects found between the mouse and the receiver.

If you are using Logitech Cordless mouse model number M-RA12 and
experience a floating mouse cursor on the screen without the mouse
being moved, more than likely a new battery is needed.

You should also be aware that Logitech's drivers use the cordless
mouse on a serial port at 9600 baud. If you encounter problems
using the cordless mouse on a serial port under Windows in 386
enhanced mode, load the driver at 1200 baud:

    - Under DOS, load the driver with the '1200' option (e.g. mouse
      1200).
    - Under Windows, use NotePad to edit your SYSTEM.INI file. Under
the [LogiMouse] section, add the following statement:

      baudrate=1200

If you experience poor performance from your cordless mouse in a
DOS box under Windows in 386 Enhanced mode please do the following:

      1) Click on the PIF Editor in Windows
      2) Under the FILE menu, OPEN the PIF file for your DOS session(s)
(DOSPRMPT.PIF is the default for DOS)
      3) For the 'Execution:' option, click on 'Exclusive'
      4) Save the altered PIF file and exit the PIF Editor.

This will prevent Windows from ignoring some of the reports being
   sent by the mouse.

Installation With The Norton Desktop Shell
   ------------------------------------------
If you run the Winstall program and the Program Group box is dimmed,
cancel the installation. From the Norton Desktop window, choose
Preferences from the Configure menu. Enable the Quick Access on
Startup option. After you click OK, choose Save Configuration from
the configure menu. You can now restart the installation. In
Windows 3.0, you will access the Mouse Control Panel by opening
the group in which you installed it and by double clicking on its
   icon to open it.
For Windows 3.1 and above, the Logitech Mouse Control Panel is
accessed through the Windows Control Panel found in the Main group.

   Windows Files Update
   --------------------
At the end of the installation, the Windows SYSTEM.INI and SETUP.INF
files are updated to reflect your newly installed software. The
original version of these files are respectively saved to SYSTEM.OLD
   and SETUP.OLD.

   Bus Mouse Conflict
   ------------------
If you have a Bus Mouse with its jumper set on IRQ 2, you may
experience compatibility problems when starting Windows. The
problem can be solved by changing the IRQ selection jumper on
your Bus board to another interrupt not in use.

   Installation Conflict
   ---------------------
Depending on your configuration, you may experience problems when
Windows tries to restart after the installation. In this case, you
should restart your system. This is only an installation problem
and should not affect the normal use of the mouse software.

   MousePort (PIX) Compatibility
   -----------------------------
If you experience compatibility problems with your mouse attached
to the MousePort (PIX) or a PS/2 port, you should connect it to the
computer through the serial port. In this case, use the mouse
through the serial port and check for a possible computer ROM
   upgrade for your system.
