LAUNCH WEATHER FORECAST FOR STS-61

Synopsis:  High pressure will bring generally northeast winds.
An upper level trough of low pressure is forecast to be over the
eastern Gulf of Mexico.  This is expected to be the primary
influence on launch weather conditions creating some chance of
low clouds and showers.

At the opening of the launch window at 4:57 a.m. on Wednesday the
forecast is:

Clouds:   4/10-7/10 scattered to broken stratocumulus at 7,000 ft

Visibility: 7 miles or greater

Wind - Pad 39B: NE/12-18 knots

Temperature:  65 degrees

Dewpoint:     60 degrees

Humidity:     84%

Precipitation: scattered showers in the Cape Canaveral vicinity

Other weather concerns: chance of low ceilings
                        threat of crosswind violation
