What was the name of the actor who starred in...? Did this actress
ever win an Academy Award? These and many other questions will be
answered for you when you pick the Cinemania '94 CD-ROM for Windows.

MS Cinemania '94 is the second release of the product. While the
first was an excellent product, the new version has even more
features, reviews, sounds, clips, etc., than its predecessor.

For starters it has a multimedia demo that shows you the main
highlights and navigational aids available. Just sit back and run
the demo. Once it is finished you will have the basic concepts of
the program, and can explore to your hearts' content.

The control of the program has not changed. It still has the same
VCR-type controller. However, there have been some additions. You
can now select from up to four different reviews for a given movie.
Not all reviewers are available for each movie. Some may contain one
or two options, while others will have three or the complete four
    reviewers.

With all films, in addition to the above, you can: view the Cast
List, Credits, Film Clip, Music, Movie Still, Dialogue, Video or
Laser Disc availability, running time, rating, B&W or Color, Awards
(if any) it was nominated for, etc. As with the reviews, not all
options are available for each picture.

After selecting a film clip to view you can, either before or after
you start the clip, view the complete text dialogue of the selected
clip. When a clip is on screen, you will see a text page icon below
it. Clicking on this will place the spoken dialogue on screen for
    you to read.

Using List Maker you can create your own video library list. Add to
it videos or laser discs that you wish to purchase or rent. When you
have a movie on screen that you want, click on list maker and it
will pop up a window. Just click on the Add button to put this on
your list, or add comments or notes before adding it. You can print
this list, or from any of Cinemania's areas.

Some of the features of Cinemania '94 include:

    * Find reviews of specific films.
    * Identify films of interest by searching and creating lists by
category (genre, actor, director, release date, Academy Awards,
    etc.)
    * View video scenes from 20 of the best movies of all time.
    * Enjoy theme music and songs from 100 well-known films.
    * Hear famous lines of dialogue from nearly 150 movies spoken by
    the original actors.
    * See more than 900 movie stills of memorable film moments.
    * View biographies and filmographies of nearly 4000 movie
    personalities.
    * See more than 2000 photographic portraits of movie stars and other
    industry figures.
    * See all the Academy Awards winners and nominees from 1927-1992.

    Reviews and articles include:

    * The complete text of over 19,000 movie reviews from Leonard
Maltin's Movie and Video Guide 1994.
    * The over 1300 reviews from Roger Ebert's Video Companion.
    * Pauline Kael's 50001 Nights and Movies, with more than 2500
    additional reviews.
    * Baseline's The Encyclopedia of Film.
    * Film glossary for identifying words and phrases used in the film
industry, and several other informative publications.

You, as I have, will pick up many informative tidbits of
information. You will also relive many exciting moments of film
history. This CD-ROM was a winner last year in my awards, and this
it will win again. As I closed my last review, so I will close this
one. They still do NOT supply the popcorn. Once you start exploring
this CD you will not have time to eat it anyway. You will be lost in
the history of film and it players. The box includes a $15 rebate
for owners of the previous version of Cinemania. You can also order
it direct from MS for $39.95 plus tax (where applicable) and
    shipping.
