COMdog is a simple freeware utility that sniffs out modems and
displays their port numbers. When it finds a responding COM port,
it sends an "ATZ" string (modem reset command) and checks to see
  if an "OK" is returned.

  OPERATION
  =========
Just type in COMDOG at the DOS prompt. COMdog will check for
all four COM ports and report any modems it finds connected to
  or configured as those ports.

NOTE: This program was tested with a variety of modems and
configurations. It will work correctly if the modems are
100% "Hayes-compatible". Most modems are, but some older
or proprietary modems may not respond correctly. It will
work with all compatible modems with a baud or bps rate of
          1200 and above.

  OTHER SOFTWARE
  ==============
Check out these other programs currently in shareware distribution.
These files can be found on CompuServe, America On-Line, and on SimTel
mirror sites on the Internet accessable via ftp (with their primary
  mirror site being oak.oakland.edu).

TIMEFLYS - An automatic "pop-up" holiday/date reminder that
automatically recalculates the dates for "fixed day"
holidays and Easter. Reminders are given 11, 4, and
1 day(s) before an event. There is also a Canadian
version in distribution as TFCANADA which has the
               addtional Candian holidays.
               Distributed as FREEware.

  EZY-D - A command-line phone/digital pager dialer that can be
used in batch files to place unattended pager calls in
response to system or applications events (such as a
virus being detected). Phone number(s) are supplied to
the program as parameters on the command line. Features
auto-modem-locate and optional user prompting for numbers.
Can be used to create menu items like "Page Ralph".

  WEZY-D - A Windows version of EZY-D. The command-line design allows
icons to be set up for those you page or call. Just double-

DOS enviroment, which is entered there using the DOS SET
command. It will optioanlly read their birthdate and run only
if it matches the system date. Great for Novell networks by
using the DOS SET login script command.
